Todd Farley
Todd Farley is the artistic Director of YFX Physical Theatre and ARTLABJ Movement Theatre in Detroit. He was raised in Hawaii and the West Coast where he entered the theater world through the art of mime, at the height of its popularity in the 70's. He is an internationally recognized performer, professor and author. He received his theatrical education at Ecole Internationale de Mimodrame de Paris, MarcelMarceau (1984-1987). One of the great fathers of mime, Marcel Marceau referred to Todd's work as master's synthesis of mime and dance. He also has a PhD in Theology and Culture from Fuller Theological Seminary--where he served as Artist-in-Residence and as an adjunct professor. In the 80's, he founded the international touring company Mimeistry and created the curriculum for their three year college. By the 90's, he was touring the world as a guest lecturer at a long list of conservatories and universities: including DePual Univeristy (USA), Boston University, the West End School of Dance (Uk), Bristol and Leeds University UK), Stellenbosch (South Africa), etc.. He has performed on stages such as the Sydney Opera House and David's Citadel in Jerusalem and for national television such as England's BBC Holy Week and ABC's Saturday Morning. He has authored numerous books dealing with performance arts: most notably the Mastery of Mimodrame. He is an award winning director, writer and choreographer whose original theatrical adaptations of literature include Alice in Wonderland; The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe; The Giving Tree; The Selfish Giant and more. He currently resides to Detroit to participate in the theatrical rebirth of this might city, and to bring a message of hope to all who live therein.
